Character: Aradia Megido from Homestuck Age: 16 History: Aradia is of Eastern Asian descent, but she has lived her entire life in Hawaii. Her family was poor prior to their immigration to the U.S., but she has personally grown up in much better conditions. Before (and a little after) the outbreak, her family ran a funeral home with her father as the director. Once she reached her teenage years, Aradia began to shadow her parents and help them with the various jobs required to keep up their business.
Her family's fortune took a turn for the better when her father was contacted by the mafia/yakuza/one of those to dispose of bodies for hefty amounts of money. Aradia was unaware of the source of this income until after her parents' deaths.
Once the outbreak started spreading and the risk of infection was finally acknowledged in the U.S., it was too late for Aradia's father. One of the mafia's victims had been contaminated by the fungus, and it spread to him. Realizing what had happened, Aradia's mother panicked and murdered her husband. She burned their funeral home to the ground afterwards and did her best to cover up any rumors about why. Eventually, grief overcame her and she killed herself as well.
After a private funeral for her mother, Aradia swore to put the sadness that gripped her family behind her and keep positive in the worst of things. With the benefit of growing up around death and loss, she's found herself better equipped to handle the emotional side of things than she would have expected. While she doesn't come off as a violent person, she's survived on her own for a while, taking her aggression out where she needs to.
I'M INTERESTED IN... ... enemies![Y] Canonly, Aradia makes very few true enemies (and the one she does make, she takes out revenge on and then moves on with it and even hangs around her later in the afterlife). Aradia finds people who are manipulative to be the most disagreeable and has no problem standing up to them. She has no problem with cutting out people who repeatedly make 'bad choices', so this might earn her some antagonistic CR. Also, I'm totally ok with people being creeped out by her sheer acceptance and almost... joy... at the situation and having them react however they would. ... friendships![Y] Aradia tends to be friendly or neutral with everyone. She can get along with a wide variety of people, including people who tend to be off-the-beaten-path. ... lovers![Y] If this develops, I am down with it! Her canon love interests tend to be bizarre, so I'm open to the possibility of anything. She won't be seeking it out, however.
