Character: Gaignun Kukai, Jr. from Xenosaga Age: 16 (yea i aged him up DEAL WITH IT YOU SHOTACONS) History: Jr. is the result of unethical experimentation in human genetic engineering, lead by his father, Dr. Dmitri Yuriev. Though perfectly human and normal in ever sense, Jr. is both a designer child and a clone of his father. The purpose of his birth was twofold: (1) to become a “savior donor” for the sickly daughter of Dr. Yuriev’s client and colleague, Dr. Juli Mizrahi, and (2) to advance the field’s understanding of human cloning and designer children. Unexpectedly, Jr. was born accompanied by a twin. With a genetically modified hair color, he was given the name Rubedo and his albino twin the name Albedo. Ultimately, neither were suitable donors for Sakura Mizrahi. The experiment was repeated, resulting in a female child with orange hair who was named Citrine. She too was an unsuitable donor. The project was cancelled.
Jr., Albedo, and Citrine spent the majority of their childhood growing up in labs, hidden away from the rest of the world and society. Their eldest sibling, Nigredo (of black hair), spent as much time with the three of them as possible, but was burdened with unpleasant responsibilities as their father’s heir and future successor. With no other friends beyond Albedo and Citrine, Jr. became very close emotionally and romantically to Sakura—only for her to eventully die when he was 12. Shortly afterward, Nigredo learned the extent of their father’s crimes in human genetic engineering and murdered him. He took his three siblings and escaped from the labs. Being significantly older than them, he posed as their father under the false alias of Gaignun Kukai. Also wishing to shed his previous identity, Jr. abandoned the name Rubedo and took up the name Gaignun Kukai, Jr. Albedo and Citrine kept their names.
With a knack for business, Gaignun worked alongside Dr. Juli Mizrahi to establish connections in the world. He amassed a startling amount of wealth in a brief period and brought his siblings to America to begin their new lives. Four years later, the apocalpyse hit while they were vacationing in Hawaii. The resort that they had been staying at was overwhelmed by the infected. In order to save his siblings, Gaignun stayed behind to bodily barricade a door. Safely across the hotel in another building, Jr. tried to rescue Gaignun by leveraging a plank out the window for the man to walk across. The zombies broke through the door and, instead of risking them getting to his siblings, Gaignun broke the plank and committed suicide. Shaken from watching his brother commit suicide and then become little more than food for the zombies, Jr. lead Albedo and Citrine to a safe area. They didn’t avoid danger for long; they were attacked by zombies several weeks later. Between the three of them, teamwork would have easily allowed them to escape—but Jr. froze up. Both his remaining siblings were bitten. Albedo managed to break free, but Citrine was not so fortunate. She was eaten alive. Jr. was forced to kill Albedo with his own hand that night.
Since then, Jr. has been floating from survivor group to survivor group.
I'M INTERESTED IN... ... enemies![Y] Jr. won’t appreciate douchebag behavior, and will definitely respond hotly to anyone who pushes his buttons or threatens the safety of the group. He’s your typical “good guy” hero type who won’t stand for injustice. ... friendships![Y] Jr. is relatively easy to get along with! He can be dorky and goofy, but very sympathetic and compassionate in serious situations. He’ll treat new acquaintances like friends right off the bat, and has no problem approaching strangers for a chat. He’s a people person! ... lovers![Y] Though still heartbroken over the death of his childhood sweetheart, Jr. can be very playfully flirty. He has a lot of unresolved issues and skeletons in his closet, so those who got close to him romantically would need to deal with that, but he’d totally fall for the right girl. He’s pretty exclusively heterosexual, but bromances are always acceptable!
MUN PINGS NO-NOs: I’m potentially open to anything, so long as there is clear communication about it. YES PLEASEs: Best friends, rivals, and romantic interests! Jr. has a lot of character development to go through in reconciling the past, so it’ll be a bumpy ride. OVERALL: I’ve often had issues playing Jr. in RP because he’ll often pour all his energy into comforting/listening to his close friends vent—and it’s never mutual. If there are characters out there who are shrewd and would prompt Jr. to share his own feelings and issues, that would be SO AMAZING.
Also Jr. will totally get a pet dog at some point AND HE WILL NAME IT ALBY AFTER HIS TWIN BROTHER, but it won’t be a chihuahua like in canon BECAUSE CHIHUAHUAS ARE SO UGLY (I’m sorry).
And I’ll be killing Jr. off in the long run (long, long run). Anyone interested in that in the future, let’s talk!
