Character: Homura Akemi from Puella Magi Madoka Magica
Age: 14
History: Homura has been bounced around fostercare in Japan for her entire life. It has resulted in her having insanely low self-esteem on top of her natural depression and anxiety.

However, around the time she's 13 and until now, she's found a steady family! They move to Hawaii a few months after adopting her, and she is quickly immersed in American gun culture. Her extended family loves guns, and she quickly picks them up too as a way to fit in with them better. She's always enjoyed military themes and weaponry, so it's no biggie.

And then the zombie apocalypse hits. She's probably narrowly surviving, thanks mostly to a horrible heart condition she probably rarely gets medicine for anymore, largely sticking to big groups of people.

I'M INTERESTED IN...
... enemies! [Y] It's going to be difficult to get on her bad side, but hurting her friends is a quick way to do that.
... friendships! [Y] Homura is best with people who are mild and not overwhelmingly energetic, but she can basically befriend anyone who wants to be her friend too with enough time. She's critically shy and anxious.
... lovers! [Y] I'd REALLY like a Madoka stand-in-- someone for her to crush on and attempt to protect, as shit gradually goes down.

Character: Valentine from Skullgirls
Age: 27
History: Born to an American father and a Japanese mother, Valerie has visited her mother's homeland only once or twice in her life and lived in Northern America for most of it. She excelled at her lessons and her extra-curricular activities, mostly being several martial art classes, and when she graduated she went straight to med school to become a nurse.

She wanted to move over to Japan for most of her teenage years, but eventually settled on taking a job in a hospital in Hawaii. Hey, it was a bad settlement; she decided she liked the place when she went there on holiday one time. She got very close to her workmates on the ward with her. The four of them got very close, bonding over their job, the medical research they helped with in the hospital, and their out of hours activities. Because all of their birthdays fell on holidays (hers being December 25th), they all decided to call each other after the holidays - but not the corresponding ones. Valerie's nickname became Valentine.

Zombie outbreaks tend to radiate from hospitals. This one was no exception. Valerie lost her friends trying to escape the building, only escaping by being brutal with the bonesaw she swiped from the surgery. Hollowed by seeing her friends die and reanimate, Valerie decided to stick to herself for as long as she could. But needs must when the devil drives, and Valerie has joined a few groups now, only giving out her nickname, 'Valentine', to them when she joins their ranks.

I'M INTERESTED IN...
... enemies! [Y] Valentine hates unnecessary or over-the-top politeness and deference. She'll likely spark with them. She also tends to be disparaging towards hero-types, being a bit of an anti-hero herself.
... friendships! [Y] She can bond with a surprising range of people. She will distance herself for quite a while and won't engage beyond a few terse or wry rejoinders for a while, but prove yourself useful and efficient and she'll open up. She also tends to be a little more warm towards younger girls (13-16), but only if she has a reason to care about them / thinks she might owe them something.
... lovers! [Y] It's unlikely that Valentine will open up enough to start a relationship, but she'll certainly be open to sexual encounters if the situation is secure enough. She tends to prefer women but is not exclusive to them. If you're someone she trusts enough, she might reciprocate interest.

YES PLEASEs: I desperately want her anti-hero personality to be brought up over the course of the psl, and for her protective side to come out. If you have a character who could help bring that out that'd be rad!
OVERALL: Overall I want to develop Valentine from her terse, harsh personality to a more trusting and group-conscious person. She'll never be easy to get along with and will always be blunt, forward spoken and survival based, but she will be more of a team player and hopefully an invaluable one.

Character: MIKASA ACKERMAN from ATTACK ON TITAN
Age: Fifteen.
History: I'm going off canon as much as I can here, because I'm the worst at AUing. She lived with her parents, who were farmers, up in the mountains SOMEWHERE - I'm just going to say somewhere cold, where melons grew idk - up until her parents were murdered. Mikasa was placed in the care of the state after that, but joined a military academy as soon as she could (under the promise that her college education would be paid for in full, when she was old enough); she was three years into her military education in SOMEWHERE when zombies popped out of the ground. Like daisies. She ends up in Hawaii as an emergency military deployment, and then everyone she knows dies or something.

I'M INTERESTED IN...
... enemies! [Y] People who try to kill her or generally interfere with her ability to survive are enemies. As well, when she gets attached to someone, enemies of that someone become her enemies by default. Other than that, she is quite difficult to get on the bad side of.
... friendships! [Y] Just be nice to her. Adopt her into your family. Don't get offended if she doesn't share her bread roll with you. The usual stuff.
... lovers! [Y] SURE, WHY NOT. She likes... people. Preferably competent people who don't interfere with her interests. That is ridiculously vague though, so let's just say if the CR is there and the situation isn't too questionable, I'm all for it.

NO-NOs: Non... con? That probably won't be an issue. Uh, anything that involves my character's circumstances being altered drastically! It might not necessarily be a complete no, but I'd rather discuss it beforehand and reserve the right to decline. So intense trauma, mutilation, dismemberment, etc. If there's some significant CR where the character Mikasa is close to (or just has INTENSE EMOTIONS about) is going to have their circumstances change drastically, I'd like to be notified in advance! Also, if our characters should happen to be fighting? NO WRIST INJURIES. Please.
YES PLEASEs: BETRAYAL. Seriously, I love betrayal plots. Especially when there's an emotional connection between the betrayer and the betrayed. Strong, believable friendships are always awesome to me. Odd friendships/relationships, in the sense that these two people have very little in common but still get along. idk I'd love to do a love triangle where all people involved behave reasonably or a relationship that ends messily but I doubt Mikasa is the character for that sort of thing.
OVERALL: NOT YET, no. This may change later on.

i'd REALLY love to see homura and valentine be friends of some sort. while Homura is anxious and shy and very socially awkward, she's more than likely good under pressure and also more than likely has had all kinds of unofficial training with rifles and handguns-- so she'd be useful in defending a group (though not a whole lot else).

That would be rad! She could probably grow gruffly attached to Homura, especially when she sees how useful she is. Maybe teach her some hold-breaking moves or some such in a show of good faith!

Yamamoto Takeshi

Character: Yamamoto Takeshi from Katekyo Hitman REBORN!
Age: 16 - 17
History: Yamamoto has been living in Hawaii for as long as he can remember. He was only a baby when his mother passed away and his father packed home and moved across the Pacific Ocean to settle with family in Hawaii. There, he reopened his sushi restaurant, Takesushi, on the island of Kaua'i. It was there, that Yamamoto grew up, in the beautiful sun, tropical weather, and warm beaches.

Yamamoto adjusted pretty well to his new home. His dad's restaurant took off, and he and his father spent the weekend's fishing and swimming in the surf. He eventually took up surfing, too! But his main passion is, and always will be, baseball. He started playing when he was just a kid, and continued on into high school, where he made varsity, and kept training with plans to go professional.

When the zombie apocalypse hit, Yamamoto lost everything - his dad's restaurant, his friends, and his home. He and his father fled to the main island to weather the storm with family, but it wasn't enough - they were dead by the time they got there. And if that wasn't bad enough, his father died so he could make it out alive. Now, all he has left is an equipment bag full of baseball gear and a fishing rod. It's likely he met up with more survivors at some point and has been helping people keep on, by fishing up dinner or smashing zombie heads in with his baseball bat.

... enemies! [Y] It's hard to get Yamamoto on your bad side, but you could start by being a huge dick with no care for human life! Or something... I'M DOWN, EITHER WAY.
... friendships! [Y!!!!!] YES. Yamamoto is the friendliest boy you will ever meet. He gets along well with people, and is also a persistent bugger who will make efforts with even the tsuniest of deres. Basically, what I'm looking for are people Yamamoto can form lasting friendships, but he can be friends with just about anyone too!
... lovers! [Y] Sure! He's a dumb teenage boy, but I'm down for some crushes blooming during the zombie apocalypse. He can teach them how to surf... ;) (I have a thing for using sports to flirt, okay?!)

jelle / asahi yuki

Character: Asahi Yuki from Iris Zero
Age: Not directly specified in series other than high school age, but I'm going to go with 16.
History: Asahi was born in Japan and with a talent for being able to tell when people were lying or not. It wasn't anything supernatural, of course, but she just happened to be good at picking up signs of lying in body language, even if it definitely wasn't infallible. This however also meant that even as a kid, Asahi could already notice many people constantly lying around her, both adults and other kids. Although she was and still is (in a sense) a fairly cheerful and energetic girl, seeing people's dishonesty all the time made her both grow more bitter towards people in general and swear to herself that she would tell the truth as much as possible to not be like those people.

The girl made sure to try and hide the fact that she was able to usually tell when people are lying from people, but one of her childhood friends one day ended up spilling the rumor in her class. Thanks to her natural tendency for violence she ended up getting in a fight with him and it ended up getting out of hand by accident, leaving him with a brain injury that ended up impairing his eyesight.

After that incident Asahi had to obviously change schools and since one of her parents' jobs was being transferred to Hawaii, she went to live there with her family instead. Once the outbreak started Asahi was seperated from her parents since she was at school and she never did find them again. She tried to stick with groups, but never lasted long with one since she would find a reason to get fed up with their dishonesty or other less than morally sound practices after a little bit and leave to find a new group again. Her goal is mostly to eventually find her parents again somewhere since she stubbornly clings to the belief that they're still alive.

I'M INTERESTED IN...

[Y] Asahi is very fierce and has tons of ideals she tries to stick to even under these circumstances, which lead her to clash easily and often with people who see that they can't always do the right thing in these circumstances and especially with people who lie a lot. She tends to blow even small things up from time to time.
... friendships! [Y] DESPITE EVERYTHING DESCRIBED ABOVE Asahi is still a very kind and cheerful person if you get to know her, and most importantly she's utterly loyal to her friends. As long as you don't lie all the time and especially if you're cheerful or cute (especially cute) she'll get along with you easily and do practically anything to make sure you're okay.
... lovers! [Y] If you can deal with the violent tsun at first, that.. is.. but I'd totally be open for something like that. I'd say Asahi prefers guys but I wouldn't be opposed to trying to do something with a girl instead. It's hard to pin down her exact type but it's basically the same things as with friends: she wouldn't love anyone who's dishonest or immoral.

NO-NOs: This probably sounds really dumb and specific and probably would never come up but JUST IN CASE my only true squicks are vore and insects under skin..
YES PLEASEs: There's a lot I'd like to explore, but nothing very particularly, so I'm up for anything, honestly. c: Although to be entirely fair I'd love for someone to die once and have it be her fault since she messed up or was too stubborn or something..
OVERALL: I'd like for Asahi to (eventually, since it'll take her ages to shake the girl in her beliefs) realise that there's not always something like "the right thing" to do or even if it's possible, that it's not always the best thing to do. Eventually I'd also like for her to find out her parents are dead and come to terms with that.

Asahi can be overwhelmingly energetic (to put it lightly) but she would probably tone it down after a bit if she finds out that it's making Homura awkward. Especially since she's the type to fuss over a sickly girl like moemura Homura.

If you want to play with the anti-hero kind of stuff, Asahi over here is someone who is extremely idealistic and a total hero type (even if it's canonically in more mundane situations since she's never confronted with something like this) so we could definitely do stuff with that!

Character: Caliborn from Homestuck
Age: 16
History: Caliborn has been a little shit since he was a baby. After his mom dies in childbirth (with extreme complications making it so) he and his twin sister grow up together under the care of their father, someone with strong mafia and yakuza connections. They are Hawaiian forever.

His sister (Calliope) is sickly and wheelchair bound and Caliborn basically goes out of his way to make her life a living hell. While she's disabled physically, he's the stupid one, and is never diagnosed with the few learning disorders he likely has thanks to Dad's pride. His favorite passtime is throwing things at her as she studies (they are both home-schooled) and also tipping her chair so she falls out.

Caliborn is the one who headbutts his way into their dad's work. He's taught to keep his mouth shut during Important Meetings but has plenty to say to his dad after everyone is gone. Their family is extremely wealthy from the drug trade, gun smuggling, and a lot of human trafficking, so Caliborn and Calliope basically get whatever they want, whenever they want. Spoiled babies.

Through the organized crime bullshit, Caliborn learns how to work with people and his delinquency is pushed in a "productive" direction, so he's significantly less violent and a lot craftier than he lets on. So when the zombie outbreak hits and his family is turned, he's quick to get himself integrated into a group of survivors despite plans to fuck them over sideways.

The apocalypse doesn't really hurt him so bad. Being an asshole, he has no qualms in destroying zombie heads and actually finds it kinda fun/thrilling. He's also totally started off with a huge stash of various drugs (he dealed) and guns/ammunition to trade for shit with...........

I'M INTERESTED IN...
... enemies! [Y] Since Caliborn's end-goal is always to fuck shit up, this is more than welcome! Negative CR is my favorite for him I'm NGL.
... friendships! [Y] I REALLY WANT HIM TO HAVE AT LEAST ONE TRUE FRIEND/ACCOMPLICE.
... lovers! [MAYBE???] Since Caliborn is v human here (as the AU dictates) he's totally able to love. It'd just take a lot of efficiency and coolness for anyone to catch his eye that way, and he's def more into dudes romantically. Stupid evil child doesn't respect women enough to be in a relationship with one. Onesided brocrush would be ideal imho.

rosh / koujaku

Character: Koujaku from DRAMAtical Murder
Age: 27
History: Koujaku was part of a Yakuza family. He grew up with them and was expected to inherit when his father died. Family bonds meant a lot to him, especially between himself and his mother. He was quite young when he got his first tattoo, and as he got older more and more were added, including the bright spray of peonies across his back.

In his early twenties there was a raid from a rival branch, resulting in the death of several family members. Koujaku believes that he could have saved his mother, but didn't. Whether it was due to fear or an actual inability to do anything is something he is admittedly hazy on; his memories of that night are hazy and uncomfortable.

Well, Koujaku left the scene and became a hairdresser in a downtown, lower-class kind of area. He became known as a ladies' man, and the guy who carted around a sheathed katana whenever he was able. Loser. He also got his pet bird, Beni, who was very well trained and perched on his shoulder while he did a lot of stuff. He even began forming his own gang again, but that didn't get far before the zombie threat struck in earnest.

Koujaku stuck with his group for as long as he could, but one by one they fell, either to the fungal parasites, infection, or a lack of hope. He's now joining the survivor groups he can with the intent to help and to survive, and maybe to get a people he can help save rather than watch die.

I'M INTERESTED IN...
... enemies! [Y] KJ is a pretty easy-going guy, but he can get very riled up by nonchalant, rude people NOIZ and will tend to snap at them. He can hold a grudge like hell if it's something serious, too, so don't make an enemy of him unless you're okay with him eventually attempting to wreck your shit.
... friendships! [Y!!] Koujaku is easygoing and friendly and even a bit charming. He's a supportive friend who can find gentle ways to say what needs to be said and talk things through, so he does best with people who can listen to that. Hotheaded or shy, as long as they don't dismiss the help he can usually give it easily enough!
... lovers! [Y] Sure, if it comes up! He's quite the ladies' man and may sleep around a bit if he's allowed to. He prefers women to men but you might be Aoba but it's not impossible for him to want to go for a guy.

MUN PINGS
NO-NOs: Nah dude I'm fine just ping me for big stuff.
YES PLEASEs: I'd be interested in him falling in unrequited love, because he is in it for pretty much every route but his (obviously) in canon and he handles it SUPER well. It'd be fun to explore those feelings in this setting. I do get that this is an awkward situation and if the person he is crushing on happens to date another person I'll find a way for him to diffuse the emotions.
OVERALL: BONDING.

Character: The Once-ler from Dr Seuss' The Lorax
Age: 27
History: Once-ler Geisel grew up as the son of a single mother and an absent father. His mother re-married, had twins, divorced, got her brother and his wife in to help her care for her brats, and generally made it known that she couldn't be bothered with her oldest son. He grew up constantly seeking her approval and it wasn't until one of his inventions hit the market that she began to show any interest in him at all.

Life hadn't been too cushy up until then, but after Mr Geisel patented his revolutionary household multitool (called 'the thneed' - because it has thousands of uses and you need it) he began raking in the dough. Hooray!

Unfortunately the zombie apocalypse struck while he was vacationing in Hawaii. Now he's stuck there with a gas mask and a fire axe and a bunch of zombies and could probably use a hand!!

I'M INTERESTED IN...
... enemies! [Y] Once-ler is a clever and capable dude but he is a selfish, greedy git. It'll be easy to clash with him. He'll also be a bit of a wreck for the first part of the psl, so it may take a bit to shake him into shape to deal with the zombies beyond an adrenaline rush.Constant moralistic harping gets on his nerves, especially if it's something he feels he's guilty of. Hell, if criticism of something he's guilty of at all comes up he'll react badly, even if it's not directed at him at all. Feel free to clash!
... friendships! [Y] He's fairly charming and funny in his own way and he's pretty good at keeping the mood up. Once-ler's the guy who might think to play games to keep morale up because he can see the machine falling apart without a positive outlook, even if it's because he wants to blot things out himself. So he'll be pretty personable.
... lovers! [Y] Sure if anyone wants to ahaha?

Character: Levi from Attack on Titan
Age: early 30s
History: Levi was born somewhere to someone at some point. By the time he hit his late 20s, he was making an active living as a thug in the underground, doing the black market’s dirty work. Without much conscious effort on his part, he assumed leadership of a ragtag team of thieves. War is most profitable to the black market, and the war on the infected was no different. When the outbreak struck the world, Levi was solicited to smuggle vaccines from the U.S. military. The operation was a bust; not only did he lose most of his crew to the infected while traveling unprepared in contaminated zones, but the vaccines also proved to be ultimately ineffective. Eventually, the rest of his remaining crew was caught and prosecuted for their crimes. With a new perspective in regards to human life, Levi managed to evade capture by escaping on a cargo ship headed for Hawaii. Having recently arrived two weeks ago, he is now desperately avoiding soldiers by keeping a low profile with groups of survivors.

I'M INTERESTED IN...
... enemies! [Y] Given his unapproachable, dour, and critical demeanor, it’s natural that he will develop negative CR, which I am absolutely okay with. However, he won’t truly consider someone an enemy unless they’ve proven themselves to be unreliable, selfish, or dangerous. Flagrant disregard for human life will put you on his shit list faster than you can say “I hate AoT unofficial translations.”
... friendships! [Y!!!] Yes, please, and thank you. While Levi can be a difficult individual for sure, he has the potential for sincere compassion and camaraderie. He’ll be closed off and touchy at the onset, given the recent deaths of his friends, but will definitely develop a grudging fondness/affinity for his fellow survivors. Levi is extremely good at reading people, so he’ll be fairly in-tune with the emotional states of those around him—this might be a good way to help start some positive CR! There’s no real formula for people he’ll “like;” so long as they don’t qualify as an enemy, most if not all characters will have potential for positive CR with him.
... lovers! [Y] Possibly… Levi won’t be too interested in casual sexual encounters, but he also will be extremely difficult to foster a relationship with. The bond between him and the other individual will need to be strong. He’s open to male and female partners. As a warning to those who don’t know, I find it near impossible to write smut without long, painstaking buildup, so you may want to keep that in mind…

NO-NOs: I’m potentially open to anything, so long as there is clear communication about it.
YES PLEASEs: Slowly developing friendships and loss of friends to help drive him toward becoming the person he is in current manga. I’d also love for him to get seriously injured while protecting someone else, since I’m a sucker for those tropes. Hurt/comfort…ahh, yes…
OVERALL: Not death… Levi will very likely be the only character I try to keep around for the entirety of the PSL (of course, this is subject to change down the road). I don’t have any plans to kill him off, so please be aware of that when plotting with him! Other than that, I’d love for him to develop under the stress and strain of this horrific environment—but in a positive manner (unlike Jigoku Kai…)
